Great little light

Bought this is a primary night-dive light and it works very well. The glove that came with it is too small for my wife's hand, so bought a Goodman glove (also from LP) that worked great. As others have mentioned, it arrives without batteries, but you can find two batteries and a charger for under $20. The light turns on very easily with one hand, which is necessary when it's mounted on the back of one hand, where a twist-type would be impossible. That said, be sure to remove the battery when ...

Best light for the money.

The OrcaTorch D500+ is a portable magnetic controlled flashlight for professional diving use. It is equipped with a totally sealed magnetic controlled side switch that provides flexible operation underwater. Using the latest USA CREE XM-L2 (U2) LED, max 1000 lumens output and over 18 hours runtime, this portable diving light offers three brightness levels and one strobe mode for different diving environment use. Plus, simple style appearance, robust water pressure resistant construction, we believe it will be your best lighting tool for diving.

The OrcaTorch switch uses a highly seawater corrosion-resistant spring. The switch provides 3-levels (modes) of brightness. On high mode the light provides 1,000 lumens with a burn time of 1-hour and 30-muinets, on middle mode the light provides 425 lumens of brightness for 4-hours and 10-muintes and on low mode the light provides 85 lumens of brightness for 18-hours and 30-muintes. The torch also has a strobe mode that provides 1000 lumens of brightness. All 4-modes are accessible with the single magnetic side switch.

The CREE XM-L2 (U2) LED has a lifespan of 50,000 hours and is powered by a single 18650 lithium-ion 3.7-volt 3000mHa battery (not included) or can use two CR123A/16340 batteries. The LED is placed in an alloy aluminum reflector with professional optical analysis. This smooth reflector provides a longer beam distance of 1,043' (318m) on land a has a hot spot beam angle of 8° with a 58° periphery angle. The torch is built to last, manufactured from aircraft-grade high strength aluminum with a premium type III military hard-anodized corrosion resistant finish. Light has a tough glass 0.16" (4mm) thick lens and is O-ring sealed with a depth rating of 492' (150m). The OrcaTorch D500+ is also impact resistant with test drop from 3.3' (1m). High efficiency constant current circuit provides constant brightness, reverse polarity protection prevents damage from improper battery installation and intelligent memory function, automatically access to the last used mode when turned on.

The light dimensions are 6" in length, 1.1" in diameter with the light head measuring 1.77" in diameter (152mm x 28mm x 45mm) and weighs 7.62 oz. (216 g) without battery. This small and compact back-up dive light will fit comfortably in your BCD pocket. The torch comes with a spare O-ring, a hands-free wrist strap, lanyard, hard side carry & storage case and owner's manual.

CAROL S  Hi Maria, I have never had any problems with the button. The multiple modes is very useful because the brightest mode is too intense for the fauna - it's a very concentrated beam and does not disperse widely. Even on photos or video, the brightest mode is too bright and will wash out the photos. I almost always keep mine on the lowest mode and will switch to the brightest if I need to signal someone.

DAVID K  I have the d500 and I have not had any issues with the button sticking. It does use the battery but will make a whole dive or two. Not sure what the fauna means though, hope my answer helps

NICHOLAS R  Yes, it is the D500, but it is 700 lumens. I've used it on several night dives and am very happy with it. As others have noted, it does turn on very easily. Also, it doesn't come with a battery, but I found two plus a charger for under $20.

FLAVIO A  Hi. The dimensions are around 8 inches long, 2 in in the front end and 1 1/2 in the back end. To turn on, you press the magnetic button once to the lower, once again a stronger, once more the strongest beam and once more to turn it off. If you press and hold at any time it starts the blinking mode. If you press again it turns off. Very easy to use.
CAROL S  Hi Doug - the dimensions are (L x Dia. x Head Dia.) 6" x 1.1" x 1.77" (152mm x 28mm x 45mm). It's perfect for a hand held light and the three settings are great. The lowest setting is sufficient most times, and the very bright setting is great for photos and video. It was especially good on a night dive. It's easily turned on and off by pressing the button shown in the photo. If you throw the light into a bag, you do have to watch that it doesn't accidentally turn on. The rechargeable batteries are also excellent, you don't have to worry about buying new batteries during the trip!
Bernardo T  The dimensions are 6" x 1.1" x 1.77" as stated on the description. It come with a power button that go through the different states (hi mode, med mode and low mode, off) and if you press it continuously , it starts the strobe mode.
DUANE S  The lens face is an 1.75" in diameter by 6 inches long. Each time you push the button the light goes from off to full brightness to 1/2 brightness to 1/4 brightness and back to off. If you push and hold the button the light goes in to flash mode, pushing the button again brings it back to the brightness level you were previously at.
Michael D  It is 6 inches long, 1 7/8 inches in diameter at the lens and has a magnetic push button in the same location a regular flashlight would have.

Just push the magnetic switch until you have the brightness your desire. The three levels make this flashlight a great dive light. I do recommend a goodman glove Great for night dives.
